Parks for People - Philadelphia

The Trust for Public Land is working with the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, the Philadelphia School District, and the Philadelphia Water Department to transform asphalt schoolyards and under-developed recreation centers into green play spaces where they are needed most.  The process includes working with neighbors and community groups to choose park features and design a plan that meets community needs while managing both on-site and off-site stormwater runoff.  The Trust for Public Land incorporates specially designed elements, such as bio-retention basins, sub-surface stormwater tree trenches, permeable artificial turf fields, and permeable pavement to keep stormwater runoff out of the sewer system.  As part of this process, the Trust for Public Land is tasked with educating the community on the important role their neighborhood park and playground serve in the long-term health of the City of Philadelphia.

Please join us for an overview of the Trust for Public Land's involvement in the Green 2015 plan.
